Hi all im going to start making my own fixed leads, but i need to find the right molds and was wondering if anyone in here can help.

Im looking for a bomb type of mold but want the wires to come out of the lead half way up, the only ones i have found so far are the uptiding style where the wires come out of the top.

Is there such a mold where the wires come out halfway up or do you have to doctor them yourself?

Help needed!

One of these suppliers may have what you are looking for.

If you find what you are looking for make sure you do a Google search for it; you may find it cheaper at another retailer. These three however do carry a good range.

Hope the links are of help and be careful when you start cooking - hot lead is dangerous.

Hi Jim, as far as the wire positioning goes, I did as my mate told me. Instead of buying a mould that was pre-drilled for the wires, he told me to buy a plain one. This was cheaper for a start and he said that they are not always drilled in the best position. This was in the days of DCA who are no longer operating as far as I know. Then when you get the mould drill it yourself. Think mate did mine with a one millimetre drill and made them slightly offset. Been using it for years now with no problems. Hope this helps. happy
Think the wires are about 16 gauge and you can get packs of 100 for about three odd squid over the internet..............

Cheers guys, i thought doctoring them myself would be the best way, my dad used to make his own and they were much better than anything you can buy in the shops, well, for a start they hold bottom, which is really all you want them to do. Anyhoo thanks again for your help and happy new year!

I use silicone moulding compound and make my own. If you can create a shape, you can make the mould. You can get it for about£ 25 for a tin from model and art shops.
