Depends on where you are on it.

Get to the west bound M27 off the M3 and follow initially signs for Bournemouth, then Wimborne then Dorchester then Weymouth.

According to which end you want to fish, it is 17 miles long, you need to go to either the east end, or Abbotsbury, 9 miles west of Weymouth or West Bexington 15 miles west of Weymouth.

Also try this website

It is too dangerous to fish with the current storm, so I have been told and would not disagree. The water at Abbotsbury is about 50 feet deep 30 yards out. At West bex it is the same about 60 yards out.

The shingle is very slippery and not good news to walk or fish on when the weather is like this, even if you have two good legs.

About Wednesday after the storm, it will probably fish like a dream as I won't be able to go then.

hi,
just like to add that portland end of chesil is also very deep at a stone throws distance out with a very dangerous under current that has claimed many a life over the years and is common during a good storm to recieve freak waves
