Well lv just had my third fishing experience of Gorleston Pier, and while going about doing what you do while fishing,l start thinking about when l use to course fish. And so was wondering if it is feesiable to use a float while sea fishing.
lf so,could somebody guide me to the type of float, weights depths ect that would be best to implement while fishing. |

Float fishing in the sea you may love it or hate it but I personally love it! there are many basic float rigs you can buy for around a couple of pounds which have everything you need to get started and most will contain a large sea float / hook / 1 or 2 ozs weight etc. float fishing can be just the job for fishing off the rocks - groyne or pier, as for the depth you need to use well really you need to know how deep the water is aprox also what species are likely to be caught ie: if you were fishing for Garfish they would normally captured within 2 to 4ft of the surface etc.
Last year I got sent a package of new style floats from a site in the USA
http://www.bigtentackle.com/
as you can see they look interesting and cant wait to get out and trial them out as these Sea floats keep the baits just of the bottom at any depth

You could use a bubble float if you want to let your bait float around. You just add water to the float (ensuring you leave a gap) and this will act as a weight for casting. Your trace could either be just left floating in the current or even a couple of small shot just to ensure it hangs. A good tip for floating in the sea is to use a couple of beads as fish like mackrel could even go for these with no bait on the hook. It adds extra attraction and increases the chance of a catch. |
