Hi Jambo, not an expert on it but last time i was in Florida i went fishing off St.Petersburg pier and it was brilliant. Really clean, friendly and plenty of fish about. Being on holiday there I never had any of my gear with me but brought a bamboo cane from a stall on the pier with just a line and hook and fresh shrimp for bait. The pelicans are good fun and will sit next to you waiting for your cacth.
Also there are just endless boat trips to take tourists out sea fishing. Your best off just checking these out when you get there, only need to book a day or 2 in advance if that. Not sure about the lakes for fresh fishing, never did that there but if there any thing like the golf courses watch out for alligators. |

Get down to the florida Keys and go after the Tarpon, if you do go, make sure you go during the night or when the sun's just coming up or going down, but if not, there's still plenty of other fish to target during the day.
Hiring a boat is very expensive, you looking at least $1500 for 8hrs, but you could try this bloke, and he might be able to get you on an individual trip which is going to be alot cheaper, he runs a boat from Bradwell and also has a fishing business in Florida http://www.johnrawlefishing.co.uk/florida%20keys%20fishing%20holidays.htm
If you can and its the right time of year try catching one of these Jew fishhttp://media.basspro.com/images/articles/jewfish1.jpg |
