Hi all,
Me and my dad fished selsey west beach on Monday night (12th July) we got down there about 4pm and we were going to fish the 3:45am high tide. Had to get down there soo early to get the bait as we were coming from London. Anyway when we got on the beach I was in no hurry to get fishing as I knew the best time would be 3 hours before high tide and that was 8 hours away my dad started fishing strait away to see if there were any bass about but no joy. Anyway I re-spooled one of my reels, and I made a few more rigs so I was armed and ready, then I did some casting practice, Then we had fish n chips from the chippy in the caravan park. After dinner I set up my other rod then I was waiting around for a few hours. Midnight came and I baited up both rods one with peeler for the hounds and the other with mackerel on a wire trace for the chance of a tope. Then I baited up two spare rigs. 12:30am came and both baits went out. Then about 2am I had 3 good pull downs then it went slack. So I grabbed the rod and ran back up the beach. Then I lifted into the fish It was on anyway I got it onto the beach and it weighed 13lb 8oz beating my previous pb by 2lb and that was the only fish for me and my dad caught a 4lb one and 2 pouting. Also it was about 10mph more wind than it said, it was about 15-18mph in are faces but the weed wasn’t too bad I caught my hound about 100yds out on a 3/0 pulley rig with peeler. Lol my dad hates it when I catch bigger fish than him, even more so I'm only 15 and his 44.
13lb 8oz
and this was the sole I caught at dungeness in a previous post.
Cheers
Elliot |
