Hi Kev, the rule of thumb for shockleader is, 10lb breaking strain for each ounce of weight. ie 5oz = 50lb breaking strain. I would personally go for a clear line, as i believe coloured puts some fish off. Cheers..Mick

Hi Kev37,

I use the same rule of thumb as manic_muppet, you can't go far wrong with that. Some others will of course have ideas which may best work for them. As with all fishing, have a play around until you find what best suits your style of fishing.

DazzerPFC posted the same question on this forum back on June the 13, think you need to go back about 3 pages to find it. It raised a few responses and gives you soem ideas as to the weight and type of shockleader to use.

Hope it helps.

Tight lines.
