Its not very often the fish and the weather do exactly what you want them to, but last evening they did..

My mate and i returned to the Sand Flats, (the scene of the flygate incident!), hoping for a repeat of the other evenings events; no wind and chest deep in bass. We arrived just before low and to be honest the wind was slightly awkward restricting our casting distance to maybe 15 yds. As the tide turned and began to flood the wind completely dropped to nothing. 'hurrah!' we said and the casts became 20yds plus. After about half an hour i spotted some fish topping slightly to out left. and so we moved position accordingly. In the meantime the sun had broken through the clouds and it was now a glorious, sunny, windless, sea full of bass evening. From our new vantage point it was plain sailing, the bass rolled in in small groups toward the shore and past us, and it was almost a fish a cast for a while, most of them in the 8-10 oz bracket. I did lose a bigger one that was probably over 2lb and there was eveidence of some better fish in amongst their smaller bretheren, but it was the lesser sizes that were nailing the tiny white Glass Minnows. I probably should have changed to a bigger fly but we were having great fun and to be honest i didn't mind.
Altogether we probably had well over twenty fish in a couple of hours, before the light faded and it was time to go, much to our disappointment.

All in all it was a perfect eveing and thoroughly enjoyable, i hope we have many more similar, and that you all do too.

best fishes Chris

Good on you Chris. I could just imagine the fun you were having as I read your post. The sort of session that puts a real smile on your face.
