im looking into buying a spinning rod, im a bit confused between the difference between a spinning rod and a bass rod.
or can i use either for both? it seems a bass rod is about the same size in general, but does it have a different action (softer or harder).
im looking for a reasonable priced combo under £50 for use for spinning for bass, mackeral etc, mostly off of beaches and ocasional rock marks.
veals sell both types of out fit for around 30 but wondered which type would be best for both jobs.

ive got 7ft + 10ft spinning rods 2 bass rods and a few different length beachcasters , i'd say that a bass rod is somewhere in the middle , you could call it either a heavy spinning rod or a light beachcaster , if thats any help to you at all
if its for spinning then i'd go for ermm a spinning rod needs to be as light as possible as you will be casting and retrieving all day long with it |

thats a great help, sounds like i may look at bass rods, will give me a better range of fishing. ie if im spinning and bump into a sizable bass or pollock it should be able to cope!! also gives me another rod to fish baits with in the surf!
i think some time theres too much choice in kit to buy!!! |

just got my order from veals, a buget spining rod and real to get me started.
reel looks ok and will suit my needs but im confused..........the rod is 10ft with a casting wt of 50-100g. the free spinning lures are abu garcia 28g.. will these be too light to cast properly with the rod, if so why supply them??
i know in this world you get what you pay for and im an ocasional angler on a budget. always had good service from veals in the past |

my spinning rod is rated from 25-60g. i find anything under the 30ish mark a little too light. 40g seems to be the best for it but every rod is different. my favourite spinner is a "skarpsilla", some norwegian type fish, in blue with a bit of yellow and silver. it comes in 40 and 60g and the 40g seems perfect on it.
best thing to do is get some small small fresh water ball leads and put a few on till you get the weight that feels best for you. then buy your spinners in and around that weight.
all the best. |
