Dug worms at Spurn on Thursday and set of for Out Newton at 6am after my early morning text from sniper. .
Set up both Greys rods with Super mags fully loaded and ready to go.
On arrival the sun was beaming and it looked a very good sea with about 4 hours befor high water, to my suprise there were 2-3 anglers already fishing.
Went about 200 yards to the left in the gulley which runs about 1000 yard long, If you go dont go past the washed mangled lump of crabpots as thats the end of the gulley
Rod one Pennel rig with 3 oz lead with 3ft stood looking to pick up the doggies Bait frozen peeler on main hook with lump of squid on top hook. launched at 100-120 yards
Rod 2 double hook flapper rig with lugs fully loaded on both hooks and 3 oz lead launched at 70 -80 yards. Des arrive 1 hour later and used 2 rods with simular rigs except he had some very good rag and sand ells.
Within 1 hour Des pulled out a very nice cod 4lb best bite
The guy 50 yards to our right neary lost his rod and he ended up with a very nice doogie of 7lb, he was also pulling out a few bass and pounting.
3 hours passed and i had not had a knock so out come the colured bead and loaded both rods with pennel rigs and lug worm on all hooks. Firts cast a little dover sole which was sent back to tell his big dad. Tide had turned and the bites were coming quick and fast, next bite a 3.5lb cod, within next 3 hours the rods were nodding and ended up with 2 more Bass and Des had another 2 bass
All in all a very good days sport, 2 cod. 3 bass 1 dover sole and guy on our right had 2 nice doggies as well as his bass and whitting and pounting.
5 species in a session.. not bad. ...the fish are certainly there. |

A very good report, Fantastic when you catch a variety of species like that. Looking forward to hearing more of the same.
