Hi all,
im wanting to buy a new couple of rods. asap. and cant make up my mind on what i want, 90% of my fishing is done on clean ground. (fishing clacton). im getting use to the pendalum casting nowdays, looking for basically a awsome rod that will last for a while and can cast silly distances, and just serve me well. i have a few in mind that i ve been looking at but as my experience is self taught i would appreciate some help. these rods have caught my eye, zziplex range, sonik sk4, any fish, also should i invest in some bigger multipliers as i have a abu mag elite orange one loaded with 15lb line and 60 lb shock leader and can clean out a full spool of line on casting is this right. is this a bait casting reel or a beach multiplier. ???
ps looking for some buddies to go fishing with this summer, near clacton walton or for some trips to the south coast.
thanks lee. |

hi mate i recently bought a century cccld 13ft rod which i am very pleased with i can otg cast and pendulem cast with it no problem.your reel is more than adequate for your fishing purpose,i would say that your either an awesome caster or you havent got enough line on your reel.i fill my spools to within a couple of mm of the rim of the spool.if you have already done this then you are casting approx 250-280 yards which would beat most tournament casters!. |

Welcome to the site Scubadude, The Century Cccld is a very good rod, also the AWAF tournament match, or look around for a Daiwa AWB129 this is the dogs wotsits, but second hand price is still around £200 but they are worth it. The reel as previously stated is dead on. |

thanks guys, ive been looking at the new 12.8ft hellbender rod with reducer any news on these, or should i be looking at a 14ft, as where i fish the guys that can punch out baits seem to do better, not always mind you, been having a chat with a guy about the reel thing who is experienced and he reckons i am pretty good a casting but letting the wind get hold of the line too much he seems to think that if i were using heavier leads with a stiffer rod i could stop this as it is im doing pendalum casting with a 3oz lead its flying but the line is just bowing big time,
cheers |

Yes 3oz is very light for distance casting, 5oz is my usual coice unless its blowing or there is a strong current. Then its a case of using enough to hold bottom. Lighter leads are still very useful for fishing closer and sometimes you can cast too far and miss fish such as bass that are a lot closer in than many people realise. |
