Went to a rock mark near hollywell fishing for some early smalleyed ray.
As some of you may know the sea swell can be really big hear. but got there and had a bit of a swell but nothing to bad.
anyway low tide was about 12ish (pm) and i arrived about 4ish. got started with 2 fish baits one sandeel and other was squid. and while i waited for the fish to bite setup a spinning rod with a wedge on. (sea if the bass were about) and i was amazed to find i landed a mackeral first cast. thought it was a flook but ended up getting 7 in total till it got dark. and no fish on the bottom rods in this time. at about 9 had my first nice bite of the trip and it was a bullhuss only 1 i have had from this mark ever! it was about 5lb, as the night went on dottom of the tid had a ray only about 3lb but put a smile on my face as i was starting to lose ope.lol.
all in al ended up with 7 mackeral, 3smalleyed ray, 1 bullhuss and a bass.
the best ray went just over 6 and the bass was 2.5lb but let it go.
tight lines everyone. |
