Hi guys, the post entitled "2 minutes" brought back memoriesof my visit to Alnmouth bay a few years ago. I drove down from my native Scotland to sample the sport south of the border and ended up at Alnmouth bay. My first day was great I kept some fish for the pan (Iwas camping) and from then on I was putting them back!!! The second day saw the arrival of a team from Newcastle way (I could only judge from the way they spoke)
First they lit fires which caused so much smoke it prompted me to request they put them out , they laughingly refused and told the Scottish b*****d
to go home. I moved up wind to get away from the smoke, and watched as they caused litter, defacated in plane view ,threw cans and bottles about, and when the sun came out fished in the nude!!! regardles of passing walkers. After an hour or so of this behaviour one of their number came over to me and said "We can do what we want here because we are English" I said "So long as you clean up after your selves I dont care either" He returned to his friends and they all came over to me . "We hear you dont like our fun " one of them said , after which he butted me in the face and the rest kicked me on the sand. They stole the rest of my bait, took their pick of my tackle, snapped my rod, and slashed my tent. I staggerd off the beach to my car and reported to the nearest police station where I related my story. I was told that unless I had someone to "corroborate" my story it would be useless persueing the matter. I know exactly what kind of animal (sorry to animals) deposits the garbage you see after a fishing session but I also know when to keep my mouth shut in future. |

Hi Andiroo And Rob, dont worry I have n't developed a dislike for English folk since then, its a fact that there are more good people in the world than bad and England is no exeption. When I returned to Scotland and told my English friends what had happened they were very saddened and some ashamed "But it could have happened in reverse!!!!" I said after all
we are n't all angels North of the border. I will be going South again there are so many places I want to fish because they have a uniqness about them and Im sure I will meet nice people like yourselves.
Thanking you
