hi tope, before you go rushing into buying a boat sit back and think about it properly m8 , ie:boat size, engine size, what you are going to use it for and how often will your money cover the safety equiptment storage fees ect....i could go on and on or you could go down to the waters edge and just throw your money streight into the water because as i have found the are expensive money pits trust me i own one. Other than that good luck m8

hi mate if your budget is 2000 don't spend more than 1000 on the boat you will need the rest for all the other little bits and you will be suprised at how the other little costs add up i.e my budget was 10,000 i spent 4000 on the boat 1750 morrings 200 filling with fuel 400 engine service 60 fish finder and am now fitting out the cabin (now where did that 10,000 go??) BUT I wouldn't change her for anything good luck Bob |

It's sad but true. Anything, and yes I do mean anything, to do with boats costs money. Usually very serious numbers too.
I've tried on a number of occasions, to justify the expense to myself, and failed miserably to do so.
I have on a few occasions sold my boat with the firm intention of not replacing the said vessel. The longest I've lasted without a boat has been about 10 months before withdrawl symptoms forced me to purchase another.
To experience a well planned, successful days sea fishing on your own boat is a feeling like no other. Just don't expect those days to be without substantial cost.
Having weighed the plus and minus points I have to conclude. I wouldn't swap it for anything.
If you can afford the ongoing cost of boat ownership, go for it. The satisfaction gained is without rival. There again after owning 10 boats over a period of 25 years I'm hardly likely to say the hobby is rubbish am I? |

Hi,
I know someone who has a Shetland 570 for sale, its a nice boat and comes with a Suzuki 75 I think. He was wanting £2995, but has been made jobless due to the credit crunch. He is now prepared to take £2000. A hugh saving. If you go onto the Shetland owners site it is advertised there as being at Amble marina.
He has spent a bit of time and money on her over the bast 2 years and she is a lovly boat.
The 570's make very good fast fishing boats, I know as I have one and would not part with her.
Hope this of some help.
A piece of advice to anyone purchasing a Shetland, ask for the badge number, then go onto the owners club there you will find what year your boat was made and how many made.
I am sick of seeing Shetland 570's advertised as being made after 1980 as that was when the last ones were made. |

Tope , those nice Americans say that if you like standing in a cold shower wearing a torn raincoat while tearing up dollar bills , Then boating is for you !!!, its not the boat often its the ancillaries. in addtion to my boat
have spent another 2 grand or more on courses , and equipment to keep me and mine safe out on the North Sea
But believe what Tomcat says, A good day out is an absolute joy, me and my lad are out on Thursday or Friday weather and sea state willing , whether we catch anything or not a good day will be had for sure
I always come back thinking , I need more days like these !!!
good luck
