Would a carp rod of around 2 1/2 lbs test curve be any good for bass fishing?
MY carp gear hasnt been used for a while and it would save me a bundle on a new rod, if I could use it for bass work. |

I got myself a Daiwa wilderness spin for the same thing. Also it comes in 6 bits and can be 9ft or 11ft.
Casts 20-60gm
Easy to transport.
I use a small inexpensive shimano reel as I expect the salt water to eventually damage it.
Down side is being 5/6 sections it always feels as if at least 1 section is loose.
Hope to try the small 7ft shimano telescopic travel rod. Feels as if it is nice but being very light will need lighter lures. Should be fun to try. |

Actually better than most spinning rods, which are too bloody short - the extra length helps you fish over weed and rocks a lot better. They can be a bit heavy for the likes of Mackerel and Mullet (the latter because you tend to bully them in to the net too early and then lose them as they are not ready) but excellent for Bass and will handle a much wider range of lure sizes than most spinning sticks. |
