Hermit crabs for bait

Hello all,
Just a quicky for you all, I have some frozon Hermits and would like too know how to present the crab on a hook for casting?

Haven`t used hermits for years,however if you remove the claws and legs,then thread the hook through e few times and whip on with elastic.
As I remember they are an excellent bait for cod,whiting and flatties.
Probably for many other species too

I thread mine on like a worm , in at the top of the body feeding the hook carefully down and out of the top side of the head that way the legs don't interfere with the bait clip. half a dozen turns or so with the bait elastic around where the body meets the head then up around over the hook eye to stop it sliding down. Careful not to burst the soft body with the elastic.

I do not remove the legs, found i had less fish on crabs with no legs ( could be a visual thing ) but i do snap off the large claw at the first joint just to get a little more scent in the water.

I have not tried them for other species but have found them a killer for smuts.
