I'm completely new to sea fishing - but I've dabbled over the years with coarse and a bit of fly fishing.

I've been coming down to Devon now for a couple of months and really fancied having a crack at a spot of beach fishing with the kids - so a couple of budget rods later, we were set to have a go at scaring the local nature.

We came down for last weeks school half term - and looking at the tide times fancied a crack off the South Hams area from Thursday onwards - Thursday camme and the weather was miserable.

But managed to get out to Thurlestone on Friday, I thought the best place would be the South Milton end - but the NT car park attendant said the majority of guys go the other end.

Wife and kids in tow - so decided to have a crack anyway - decided to have a go at spinning for Bass - 4th cast in and Bang a nice 2lb'er.

That's it for me I'm hooked - I'll be back and keep coming back for more of this - what a fantastic sport
