At the moment i have a 10ft rod so i have been told i have got limited fishing. but i do plan to upgrade to either a 11 or 12 foot rod. Would appreciate any tips. |

Sorry not my area, as you can see Im a northerner, but as reguards the rod you can't do better than the Shakespear range as for good quality at a fair price. I wouldn't suggest that you unlike most of us spend a huge amount of money on equipement until you have browsed the market and this site. Good hunting keith.
Oh by the way, A warm welcome to the forum, I had only just noticed that this is your first post, sorry about that. |

| Never fished there mate but just had a quick look at charts: Totally boring flat and uninteresting. Suggest you give up and try Middleton or Shoreham areas which seem to have a few features - I bet the bass go up and down the river at Shoreham for example which means it could be good to try LW up just inside the river mouth. Don't know if that is possible, you will have to do yer own survey, suggest you go there at low water springs and have a good look at the lie of the land. Might find some bait digging areas too. |

| Hi Mark - I agree with Eccles it is flat and boring but try shoreham arm and opposite the lifeboat station. I've been up and down the river dragging a lure from the boat and there does not seem much but I am no expert. One place I've thought about is Church Rocks about 1/2 - 1 mile from the arm towards worthing - you might need to cast a bit further than a 10 foot rod allows. Just keep at it - at least you have a bass under your belt which is more than I can say (2 squid off Brighton Marine yesterday - Wednesday 21st May). |

Hi Mark and welcome. Worthing pier is one of the better marks around Worthing a couple of double figure bass get caught each year (pier legs are where to fish), there are occasional runs of smoothounds and the golden grey mullet fishing can be very good in late summer other than that its a small fish venue with garfish, flounders, eels, mackerel, dogfish some bream and whiting the main culprits. There are slightly more bass and a chance of stingray at goring and some specialist mullet and bass fishing in the local estuary's (neither are easy). I'm afraid the best fishing in Sussex is east of Brighton marina to Eastbourne or west of Littlehampton round to Bracklesham bay. Best place to check for local info is prime angling. Hope this helps and doesn't put you off |
