Hi,
Mark here, I came across this great resource when doing a bit of google for sea fishing, which is something that interests me, both in a culinary and being able to do it sense. Seems like there's a bit to learn so hopefully will be able to put the thoery into practice somewhen. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Tight lines n all that, Mark |

Hello mate and welcome to this fine forum - I'm a total beginner too, but the Dogman is now catching a few fish!
Good luck to you. |

Hi Berus. I think you made the best pointer yourself there, put theory into practice. Use this place for your theory and practice when your on the beach |

Thanks for the replies so far, I may have to pop out and look to see how its done in the flesh before I make the plunge with getting some gear.
Talking about gear, does anyone have any good links for where I could get some reasonably cheap n cheerful gear. I imagine I would be mostly beach casting and one of my target spcies would be Mackerel.
Cheers, Mark |

Thanks for all the replies, is there any chance I may able to tag along with someone somewhen to have a look at what to do in the flesh?
Twogun- thanks for the links, it has given me a bit of food for thought on what to get, though I've seen a couple of combos which are possibilities.
Cheers, Mark |

Welcome Mark, before you take the plunge tackle wise have you considered an 11ft spinning rod and matching fixed spool reel and 10lb line? This is more fun to fish with, although better at targeting fish 1 or 2 at a time, and covers one hell of alot of different types of summer fishing on the south coast e.g. spinning, floatfishing and light ledgering. 90% of the fish available are under 3lb on the south coast and easily tamed with this gear, notable exception being smoothounds. Personally recommend shakespeare salt 3piece mpv rod with matching real as a cracking affordable lightweight combo thats really easy to carry around for those quick sessions. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse the issue |
