i have not been fishing very long but i am willing to share all of my usefull ideas and stuff like that. big grin big grin

1.tie on a split ring to the end of your line so you can easily change rigs when you need to, but just make sure it fits through the two end rings

2. if you are using a feeder cut the leg bit off and old pair of tights and stick your fish guts, oil and chum in there and then put it in the feeder, this allows a steady rate of scent dispersal, and stops fish from making away with bits of hanging out stuff.

3. if you are on a pier fishing you can catch crabs for bait all you need is one of those cloth mesh bags you get with washing tablets put in a drilled shot weight and a bait of your choice (i use squid heads) and tie it to the end of your line and drop it off the end of the pier and wait for about 5 mins and when you bring it up you should have a few crabs which you can use for bait. (it doesn't matter if they are hardbacked of not). to hook them, make sure you take off all the legs and claws to do this just twist and pull . then shove the hook through one socket and out of the other one on the opposite side. what i do for extra scent dispersal is i take the shell off of their back exposing their guts.

thats all i have so far but if you have any questions about what i have said dont be afraid to ask and i will try to think of some more usefull stuff. big grin big grin

flatties will take most baits offered but one bait that is frequently overlooked and costs nothing to collect are mussels from rocks piers and harbour walls.
