Hi Bob

Welcome to the site. Like yourself I fish the local spots, roker pier, rat house, galss centre etc and some of the locval beaches. I also want to fish further afield and was speaking to medlar, another north forum member, and was talking about going up Northumberland where he often fishes (craster or lynmouth was mentioned). I am unsure when this may be biut we are fishing local on Saturday evening. Give me a shout if you are in the area.

Hi Bob

I too am at the match on Saturday but Medlar and I are going up to Lynmouth way to try and catch our massive cod to post on this website after the match. Travelling so far I would have liked to leave earlier but I am really torn between my season ticket and my fishing rod. Due to having a young family I only usually make fishing on a Friday night but can sometimes change to a saturday so just let me know if you are out then sometime and we can try and arrange a trip up north. FTM

Hi Bob

Medlar and I went to Lynmouth on Saturday but we don't have any pictures of the massive cod we caught. Actually after a long drive and little walk we cast out on the beach and within about 30 secs out lines were washed up on the sand. The wind waas that strong and the waves didn't help. Shame as the water looked good for fish. We went back to old faithful Roker and fished the beach (Bay). The wind was still there but not as bad. Got a whitie and coalie but after an hour or so the wife and my eldest daughter were sick at home so I had to do daddy duty (Sorry Medlar). It shows no matter how much planning you do the elements decide where ot whether you fish. There was people fishing the pier with the waves going as high as the lighthouse??? I feel for the fishermen's families from Teeside when they got swept over by waves. Come on lads, fishing is a sport but you're not going to pluck a 20lb cod out of a 20 meter wave are you?? Keep it safe.

Medlar and I might be fishing Roker on Friday night. Let me know if you are out and we could meet up.

Best wishes y'all

Hi Medlar

I am definitely up for the barrier on Friday (weather pending as it might not be open). What time are you going for? I know high tide is about 7ish so we will probably be fishing the tide out for most of the night. I am unsure exectly what time I will make it out for but it could be anything from 5 to 7. Let me know your preference and I will try and make arrangements.

Bob, sorry you can't make it on Friday but no doubt I/we will be out next Friday also (will let you know for definite - time etc).

Hi Bob

Good news for Friday. Medlar and I will be at the barrier on the pier for about 6pm. I will send you an email through the personal section with my phone number. Just give me a ring or text when you get there and we should be able to meet up. Hopefully you could be our lucky omen.

See you then

Hi MOG and BOB,
Fished Roker beach last night into the bay as the pier was closed. You would`nt believe my luck, fishing for about an hour and a half,NOTHING.A lad comes and sets up 20 feet away from me,baits up with rag and squid casts out and bang bang,a 4lb codling,3 more casts produced 2 more smaller codling about 2lb,me i went home with 4 decent sized whiteys and a runny nose.
How do you`s feel about fishing the barrier for a few hours then maybe the beach.those codling were caught about 2 hours before low water at casts of no more than 40yds.Mog text me to let me know the best time to meet you on friday night.JUST GOT your text now mate that was quick.see you there hope to meet Bob and maybe his son as well   :?:

Good news to hear there are a couple of cod being caught. Mind you I am going to take my scuba diving gear cos if no cod eat my bait I'm going hunting. I refuse to go home codless this weekend.

See you there mate

Mog
