|
|
Hello all,
I'm a newcomer to fishing and hoping to try and catch a few fish for the BBQ on weekends at the coast this summer. I've only done a couple of organised boat days before but have really enjoyed reading all your tips and advice.
Can someone recommend a few good spots around Dawlish, Holcombe or Teignmouth?
I have got a starter kit of 9ft spinning rod, fixed spool reel (with 15lb line) and an assortment of spinners, feathers and a few floats to try. I guess with this kit I am looking for some accessible rocks or a harbour wall where I can try out my spinners and (hopefully) a self tied float rig!!
All advice very welcome - particularly on the location as I only have the odd weekend to play with and any tips for helping me have a memorable first outing would be gratefully received.
Cheers

Cheers Guys.
Even if where I'm staying (Holcombe) isn't a famous fishing spot I'll chuck my spinners in and see what happens!
By the way, could someone confirm that I'm doing the right thing by using a 40lb shockleader even though I will be mainly spinning and using a sliding float set up? My casts are likely to be a bit random so I thought better safe than sorry!!
Thanks / BG |

hi mate
you dont need a shockleader if you are just spinning
if you start chucking out leadweights they say that the shockleader should be 10lbs weight to every ounce of lead so a 6oz lead would need 60lb shockleader |
