Just had my rod personalised for myself. I have had the screw reel fitting fixed on my Diawa supercast and was measured up for the rod and so finished up with a new butt section specifically designed for myself. It is six inches shorter than the original and casts like a dream. it has added at least 40yds on my casting ability. The rod was originally designed to acommadate coasters which I hate so Im over the moon with the conversion. keith

Yep it can be done and its not cheap but you have to be measured up for it for example the length of your arm at which you feel most comfortable at during your cast.

i have the abu grip as I didn't like the look of the coasters. As you know Keith my diawa is also the supercast, while it maybe older than yours I dunno, its turned out to be a belting rod.

The main reason I had it done was because unlike a lot of the new generation that have fell in love with the smaller reels such as abu 600 series and 6500s and penn 535 mags, I feel more comfortable with reels like the Abu 7000s which after all was designed as a casting reel but is now classed as a light boat reel. Well believe it or not I am hitting better distances with the okuma magnetix boat reel than any of the others. Ok I know it's an unusual combination but it works for me. If and when you get a crack off, you will need more line whereas if it happens to me all I need is more shock leader. I refuse to follow the trend just for the sake of looking good in front of others.
