Fished on the beach just near the ferry on the Shell Bay side from 7pm on Friday. Quite a few anglers stretched along the beach. Quiet start but weather made up for it. My mate caught a couple of undersized bass on Ragworm. Once the ferry had closed, we moved to the other side of the slipway to the end of the railings. At slack tide the bites started again and another 4 bass around the 2lb - 3lb came to the shore. Kept the largest, all others returned.
All fish fell to ragworm. Only crabs caught on Maccy and Squid. As we left at 4am, people were arriving to use their Rapalas and Shads off the slipway.

I grew up in Swanage so have fished Pevril Ledge and Durlston bay a lot....but only from a boat. From the shore there are good pollack, bass, wrasse and mullet....but be prepared to lose gear. Bottom is rough and weedy in places. I have not fished Studland Bay from the shore. Have fished many times off the stone jetty or groyne near Haven Hotel on Sandbanks side at night. Had small smoothies, plenty of Pout and small bass.
Good luck with your trip....I can't get out again until 23rd May........I must break free of this ball and chain !!
