Checked the weather report and the wind was ENE and so scrapped Ramsgate as a venue. Didn't think having the wind full on in your face would make for a good session.
Went round the corner to Princes Parade Hythe and fished the beach for last evening's tide (Saturday). My son and his mate (who caught the only fish - a small whiting) had a great time. I enjoyed it too but was disappointed with the lack of sport - two bites which got away.
Others further along the beach I hear caught some pouting and dogfish.
Never mind the mackerel will be here soon - what a sight that is - the sea 'boiling' as a shoal goes through. Trouble is I'm usually there with the family and no rod!
Tight lines all

hi mate and welcome
the last time i saw the sea boiling like that it was a shoal of bass not mackeral , i was out in my boat at the time and the result was 4 straightened mackeral feather hooks and a 4lb bass on hand line and a near dislocated shoulder boy do they pull

looks like you will have to get a small telescopic rod n reel to take with you when down the beach with your family

good luck mate
cheers steve

I know it can be a bit uncomfortable but next time try the wind in the face option. Most of us hate an East wind(my beaches face SW) but it can really wake up the east coast, you'll find the best wind for most venues is an onshore wind, it stirs up the sea and pushes any fishy food towards the beach. Hope this helps up the catch rate a bit big grin
