Right guys heard a bit of bad news for the locals of Lazer Quay. There are going to be putting up a set of electric gates at the enterance of lazer quay in the next couple of week due to alot of trouble from boy racers and the state of the car park due to some of the anglers that have been using it. Bait paper being left everywhere and line being left too. It's a shame as it's not a bad spot on the medway. No one will be allowed to fish there once the gates are up.

Is there any possibilty of speaking to the owners an maybe coming to an agreement for fishing . As someone who shoots permission is and always should always be asked from the landowner and it appears that this can only be the way around this . Maybe as a Forum / Club we could fish this this venue and show that resposnible anglers can have a session fishing without leaving the place like a Gypsy site after they've gone.

For what its worth, whoever you speak to might not have a clue about fishing or just how responsable so fisher folk are. It may be worth pointing out this site to them so they can see for themselves the kind of folk they are dealing with. Who knows we might get another Newbie lol.

am back!!

I had heard back in January that there were notions to put gates up at Laser Quay but having spoken to other fishers there they said had been going on about it for maybe 2 years!!

I have just been down to the "Medway Estate Management Office".. hmmm thats a laugh! there IS a room alas NO MANAGEMENT TEAM!! confused

I managed to get a telephone number for a Terry Mills turns out he's to do with Sunderland Quay next door!! who have ALREADY had gates put on 2 years ago because of boy racers drug dealers.. blah blah.. then he says fisherpeople!! oh so i asked what had been the problems.. "If you allow fishing on your premises you HAVE to provide lifebelt stations and belts, which they had to erect two of.. alas they were vandalised and to replace would have been at a cost of £750 each to the owners of said property, hence fences up and gates locked" he also said that that didnt stop fishers, our security have reported fishers parking in Laser Quay and crawling through the cut holes in the adjoining fences" Terry does NOT know how we can find a management person of the estate!! confused

I am NO further forward in trying to find the OWNER/MANAGERS of Laser Quay.. i tried asking some of the offices but no one knows! crying !!

The main problems that have been grumbled about are
boy racers, dumped vehicles, 2 lorries have been stolen in day time hours from there, oh yes then fishers leaving papers tackle n worms. dead fish on the ground one day a group of workers came in to find fish slapped stuck all over the ground floor window of the office!! ( NOT a normal fisher i believe lol )
good to know we're NOT 1st on their list eh! happy

I AM however waiting to hear back from Medway Council Legal dept re the stopping of access to fishing the river/sea around the estate.. i am also going to ask them who pays the business tax?? surely the council can help us find out..
If they DO put up gates to stop vehiclular access day/night fine but please leave a pedestrian accsess for night time! yes some fishers will NOT want to fish if their cars not there to jump into if its rainging thats tough sorry get some decent waterproofs!!..

Its a good mark and Tom n I love it there i'l post what ever info i can find out and thank you Rabbi we'l do what we can!!

Sue
