Ok, I recently destroyed one of my Penn Gs reels and am now considering updating most of my stuff anyway so ive been looking at Abu's.
The sports mag caught my eye along with the mag elite, both without level wind but then yesterday at school was talking to the caretaker and he says he uses the daiwa 7ht. It seems to have gone down in price whether or not this is because of the 7ht red being released i dont know.
what i want to know is which reel under £100.00 i should buy in your opinion. I ant a reel that can fish over rough ground and still be able to cast a possible 200 yards. |

Thom,i have the abu sports mag,and believe me mate they are crap over heavy ground.that is what i mostly fish over and i use the ABU 7000,SL30SH,or my 525 super mag.Super mag is best for distance casting and still has a nice fast retrieve for getting youer sinker up quickly. The SL30SH is the cheapest of the 3 costing around £70 but it AINT a casting reel neither is the 7000
Go for the 525 Super Mag,about£125 |

Oh I see you fish heavy ground well all my preverences would not be that good really, but for heavy ground the Penn 535 or the Daiwa Slosh etc are common choices.
Cheers

well we mainly fish mixed ground but this can get us into some pretty big fish and thick kelp but i really want to be able to reach my full casting potential at the same time so i need a good casting reel that has a good retrieve ration and will do over the rough whihc is why the daiwa 7ht came into view the gs's are good rels but they are to bulky to be used for distance casting, not enough control |

Ide go for the Penn 525 Super Mag myself, there a regimental reel that do the job there built for.
Abu being the forfront leaders in beach reels of supirior quality,, in my eyes anyway.
But when something comes along and you hear how good it is and dont try it out you"ll really be missing out on something.
There so smooth and easy to handel plus you can hit them and i mean really hit them and they just obey so neutral like ther part of ya.
There taking off well down here in the southeast, there a tough beautiful reel.
GOLDDUST  |
