Hi all,
My names Paul and over the last few months I've started getting into Sea Fishing. I use to go course fishing in my early teens, is it me or were thing so much easier use to have just a rod, line, hook & bait. Looking around tackle shops and online it's almost overwhelming with the choice of things you can get.
I’ve been fishing a couple of times, once from Jaywick – beautiful day, but the tide was really rough and I found it difficult to tell if I was getting any bites, and I fished yesterday from Clacton Pier- again a lovely day but not much action – just a couple of bites, both missed. So that’s 2 blanks out of 2
The one thing that worries me is that I’m doing all the wrong things and just bumbling my way through it. Does anyone know of any clubs in the area where I can no join and hopefully learn the finer arts of fishing, as well as have a few laughs along the way?
Paul |

Hiya,
I do a little bit of fishing at St Osyth and although not the world's greatest I've still managed to catch an eel and a plaice.
Bait being used was squid.
As for your comments on course fishing I still use my John Wilson Avon rods to good effect and stick to all the old baits like maggots, sweetcorn,spam.bread,etc..... Never been into carp fishing just give me a stretch of water near a weir and I'm away.
Good luck - Dave from Witham. |
