try passing the hook through the worms head and out of it's body so they bunch up with tails wriggling and head hook a couple for good measure then dip the hooked worms into water before lobbing it out. i use this technique with light gear and weights and normally fish within 50 yards for flatties. different baiting methods are used if distance casting as delicate baits dont fare well due to aerodynamics. tip - dont be stingy with the bait. |

when you say flatties there are different types , when i go flounder bashing i use rag or maddies if i can get any which are rag but habour rag alot smaller bunch about 6 on a size 4 hook, and sole are found at dark in the summer night taddiford gap used to be a hotspot , plaice id say sandbars which they should be in now , also dab ,turbot, halibut so all named under flatties but all have different times of the year to spawn times to feed and different food types , the word flatties is a term for flatfish.
