Recommend beach casting rod

Tim,you are partially right,my century wont catch 3 times more fish than your Greys But if you fished the cliffs you would see it does`nt have the back bone for it.I have a Greys nitra which i use for mixed ground and an ABU Conolon Xodus for clean ground,but for rough stuff and cliffs its got to be my Century

Good points tim and they are also made by john holden and alan yates and to be fair they probably know more about it than any of us.

But what i will say is that i have two zippys, which are about 25years old, and the blanks are still perfect and will probably last another 25 years, that to me says two things, 1. they have got to be quality to last that long, and 2. that is real value for money. Thats not to say any other rod on the market wont last that long, but i can only speak from my experience. I made this point to dw1 and ill stick by it, Zippys are a rod for life.

As for rods that are used for rock marks, i havent a clue as i dont fish the rocks, but im sure Zziplex make a rod that will cope with those situations and if they dont ill have to take your word for it medlar, but we'll have to wait and see if you still have your century and greys in twenty years time, and if you do, £300 dont seem to expensive for 25 years of use.

Also we have to remember Zziplex is a small company run by Terry caroll whos life has been making top quality rods in which he takes great pride in. Unlike alot of other rods which have been mass factory produced in which these companys only objective is to make as much profit as possible. We owe so much to Zziplex and terry caroll, because with out him i dont think we would have as many good quality rods on the market to choose from.

anybody use the daiwa rods for mixed/heavy ground? ive been looking around for a new rod under£200.00 aswell as the reel but i cant seem to find a decent rod other than the greys range

Had my Century Kompressor about 12 years now,copes with everything i ask of it.all rough ground work,rocks and cliffs.The rod is almost as good as when i first purchased it,still got original,reel seat,shrink wrap and rings
I do look after my rods,any of them.so no matter how much i spend on a rod wether it be £300 or £50 i take care of them.like any tool look after it and it will last

I use a pair of the daiwa TDXS 133 PM, £320 is the RRP, and Poindextres in Southhampton are selling them for £200. The rod is really awesome, casting weight 3-8oz, gives excellent bite detection, and I have no worries throwing out a 175gm lead on it with a pendulumn cast. I guarentee you wont regret it. carbon fibre tip, everything you want, hence the reason I had to get another (my century's going on ebay.....bless the poor thing).

Interesting point re the RRP of rods. Seems that most rod retailers show RRP but sell for considerably less. However, not sure whether this applies to Zziplex rods - unless someone knows differently.

well im quite happy with greys and ive used the century andzippo, but at the end of the day its each to there own wouldnt do if we were a ll the same, bull shit blah blah

Don't think it applys to zziplex. I know they are hard to find in the US and damned expensive. $600 8O . But thanks to my christmas bonus 8)

Yeah looks that way. I just ordered a reel I don't need and can't use for 3 months :roll: and have another I brough at thanksgiving and hav'n't used that yet either.
