Hi CD The onle braid I use is 80lb Ron Thompson Cable Braid. Its far thinner than any other Ive tried. Dont get me wrong its not cheap. It works out at about £40 a spool of 300 meters and I purchased 7 spools. This was because I always buy in bulk whenever possible and my orginal order for 2,000 meters. |

I like using Gelspun Dyneema sinking braid its not too expensive and its good quality, itl cost you about £15 for 250 metres which isnt that bad. |

There are those dyed in the wool users of mono and those that are willing to try something new. Each to his or her own way of thinking. Braid does have it's uses and it's advantages.
Go On Give It A Try you might even suprise yourself!!! lol |

Ron Thompson Cable Braid. Check it out on google. I use 80lb straight through. I have 7 spools of it although its not cheap £40 for 300 meters. Its as thin as 20lb mono I kid you not. keith |

I keep hearing that braid is good so was thinking about using it off the beach and rocks on a fixed spool reel.
Question: is it appropriate for shore fishing on an fs and is it more likely to twist/tangle/birds nest etc?
Any other down-sides?
Thanks |

Used on a fixed spool reel there are no downsides. the only reason I use 80lb is that I do not use shock leader, some folk dont agree with me on that last point. Oh well such is life. keith |

Tangles easily ? yes and not good in rocky stuff as its not as tough as mono, £30 of line might only do one trip if it gets scuffed about. Its good on clean beaches. |
