Hi all, new in here so be patient!!.
I fish mainly around Aberavon, Swansea Pier, Mumbles ( Knab/Pier ) and Rhosilli. I was wondering if anybody knew of some good spots I could give a go as I feel Ive all but exhausted my above options. I dont mind a walk to get there but my fishing buddy struggles so Ive got 2 b able 2 park close by. Hope Im not asking the impossible and I hope some1 can help me out!!.
P.S......
A word of warning to those who fish Mumbles!!!!.....
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE plan your trip right, if possible take the time and get to 'Dragon Baits' in Aberavon for all your bait, they sell to all the local tackle & Bait shops and you will find you will get a hell of a lot more for your money.
DONT DONT DONT buy any bait from the tackle shop 'Basstastic Tackle & Bait' that is just at the entrance to Mumbles Pier. It is an absolute rip off for what you get, I paid £4.00 for some Wrag and what I got was outrageous, I could fit the whole lot in2 the palm of 1 hand. At ' Dragon Baits' you will get 1/2 a pound for £6.00, thats a a lot!. |

Hi mate, Glad to welcome you to the forum. Im in Blackburn and I have visited mumbles and arranged for two local lads to meet me there, Shorty and Bigbassman. I had a great time there but the fishing was down in the dolldrums. I understand what you say about basstastic. I knocked him down £10 on a travel rod and £15 on two moulds, he wasn't a happy man. |

Cheers lads!.
Yes, Basstastic is worth a miss I think, dont get me wrong, I underestimated how much bait I needed for my latest sesh and had no choice but to go there, some of their stuff seems reasonable apart from the bait but I was well peeved at what I felt was a rip off and his big smile as he gave them 2 me!!. The fishing is still a bit down in the doldrums Rabbi2, went about 2 weeks ago caught 2 dabs and 15 whiting, all none bigger than 1/2 a pound, Im not complaining tho, tight lines I like!!!!.
On the Porthcawl venue.... I went there on Tues 26 Feb ( a nice 4am start!! ), went down on2 the pier just by the lighthouse, a crackin little spot!. However, I got an absolute soaking by 3 huge waves that crashed over the end within 1/2 an hour!, all my worms got ruined and so did my morale!. It was a beautiful day to boot but the swell was so huge and the wind so fierce that bite detection became non existent!. I didnt think of trying the beach but thats definately something Ill be doing before the Summer comes around ( avoid the tourists!! ).
By the way thebigbassman, is broughton bay a rocky venue or mainly sand?, just thinking of rigs!. My next fish is 2moro, catchin the late tide at about 11 pm. |

both mate but mostly sand
regarding the porthcawl venue (newton) you're in the wrong place mate, newton is the otherside of treco bay caravan park and you got to go through newton village its only a small bay but worth it look it up on google maps mate then you can see yourself |

Going to have a bash in Porthcawl this weekend. Where would you try? Staying at the Rest at Rest Bay is the beach there worth trying or would i be better going to Newton beach or the Pier?
