I bought some swivels and american snaps, size 6, and they look rather small! any idea what size I should be using, or are they ok...I see other peoples, and they look huge in comparson. |

On an average I use size 3 but I do use larger only for the fact they are easier to cope with on a cold wintery day or night for that matter. |

i agree with the rabbi as the smaller ones can be a pain to get off when your hands are cold |

Some people say big is beautiful
But as long as the weight rating suits the type of fishing you are doing the small ones will do the job.

Hook sizes for sea fishing usually from 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 ect up to about 12/0. 2s are the smallest 12/0 the largest. hope this helps. |

Not to sure I normally go in the shop and say I'll have a bag of them. The ones I use are about 1/8 inch around the barrel. Wait until someone else replies they may be able to help you better than me on that score. |

Yes that is the way it works.
Hooks atart around 26(tiny blighters) and as the number goes down they get bigger once you get to size 1 they get bigger again starting at 1/0, 2/0.....etc.
The same goes for the swivels.

Just looked up the info on swivels and for shore and boat fishing 4s and 2s should be adequate but for conger, tope and portbeagle shark, 1s, 1/0s and 2/0s. Hope this helps. keith |
