September saw some nice ray being caught from Redwick and codling are now showing at Goldcliffe. Both venues should see improved catches for cod around this time so i'm going to give Redwick a bash on Sunday.I'll post a report as soon as I return. |

not huge about 1.5-3lb, but my boy is only 12, and he had great fun pulling them in. I tried a new spot, and had loads of bites for the three hours we fished. Including one that that nearly bounced the rod of the tripod, all in all a very good day. |

I fished the 11pm tide from the 'W' last night,11.5m.
7 codling to 5lb caught on blowlug from 2 hours before highwater to 2 hours after. An excellent nights fishing with plenty of bites and good weather conditions. |

park at the end of the farm lane (enter the farm opposite the Rose pub and follow the track to the very end, closing all gates behind you),stand at the top of the sea-wall and look to your left.Follow the path until it swerves to the right, about a kilometre down the path i'd guess,as you approach what is the first 'point' of the path, descend carefully down the rocks and directly in front of you there will be some peat ledges.Fish these ledges about 2-3 hours before high water, being careful that the tide will come in around you, eyes peeled!Small tides will allow you to remain on the leges, while the larger tides will force you up onto the wall.I always fish with lug at this venue, black if you can get it fresh. |

cheers Mal I know the spot your talking about, I've seen it fished before, but I haven't fished it, when I fish that part of redwick, I usually stay close to the end of the track, nice and close to the the car, I might give it a go next Sunday afternoon, I'll let you know how I get on. |

Went again this morning Mal, got there far to late, just before high tide, so missed the best of it, as I find the best time to fish a couple of hours before high tide, so me and the lad just fished the wall at the end of the track, weather was rather damp, cold and blowing strongly right in your face. So rather crappy conditions all in all, but still managed a small cod and whiting, which was nice, as others around us seemed to blank. I do love lug worm, in never fails. I will have to go again next weekend depending on weather as the tides should be a bit bit better for me and the lad. This getting up early in the dark nonsense is never going to catch on. |

A year later,a year older and a year wiser!
This weekend will see my first trip of the year to Redwick.Saturdays' tide is a 12.8m!This is not ideal, since I find Redwick fishes best on an 11m or less, but nonetheless I'm going to give it a go.
I'll be fishing 3 hours before high water, with high water being around the 9pm mark and a few hours down.Bait is going to be lug,as always, with some squid strips and half a dozen live peeler if I can get them.I'll fish the tide up with lug, then change to a crab and squid bait as the tide turns and(in theory) the bigger fish lurk around the peat ledges.
Codling have already been caught from most of the favourite marks at Redwick and the sole and conger are always a good bet mid September.I'll post a report on Sunday. |
