Just wondering if any of you guys can tell me a few places to fish around the Dawlish area? Will be there for about ten days in the middle of july and my son wants to catch a few fish.
Can you help? Thanks! |

Dawlish fishes quite well, though July is not the best time. There should be mackerel and garfish about and higher tides will be better. There are also plenty of dogfish. It is good for bass but conditions need to be right; southerly to easterly gales help and there are more of these in the autumn (bass and gales). If you want bass you could do better to try the Teign estuary at Teignmouth fishing around low tide. You can buy sandeels in Teignmouth.
Back in Dawlish there are a couple of breakwaters that can be fished from and should produce mackerel and doggies. There used to be flounders about but most of them seem to have gone now. The Langstone Rock area can also be good and there is another breakwater here fishable for the first half of the flood tide.
Best of luck. |

| It would be hard to do worse , but there again you could throw your rod in when casting or it might piss down all day , that would be worse! |

Or you could get beaten to death by bits of timber washing in off the upside down prince or whatever it was called! |
