If you decide to buy a new rod instead of replacing the rings on these older ones, you could always buy a new eye, (about £4), and tape it on with electrical tape, then use it as a spare. Sounds daft I know but alot of the casting circle use this method. I have also used this method on an older rod and have never had any problems what so ever.
Or you could always buy a reel of whipping, small pot of varnish and give it ago yourself, its dead easy.

Hi guys and thanks for all replies but I have another question.
I was looking at eyes online but how do I know which size to buy.
The eye that was on the rod had an external diameter of 25mm.
When looking at eyes, I am not sure which one to purchase.
I have been looking at the eyes on the following link:
http://www.tacklebargains.co.uk/acatalog/Fuji_General_Guides.html
The BNHG eyes have their codes as 'Size 8' up to 'Size 25'.
Is this the size of the eye?
I know this seems stupid but I don't want to buy something that is of no use to me.
Thanks

Your not as stupid as you make out. Yep your right it refers to size. If you can identify one eye then it should be easy to replace all the rings so that they match. Make sure you replace them in their original position on the rod. As for altering the characteristics of the rod, this is a fallacy, the rod will be as good as it was originally. |
