I have 3 piece one of these and I have to admit I am beginning to like it, but I get the most pleasure out of my AFAW 3-5oz surf rod. It casts a 5oz weight a long way (and even a 6oz if I'm careful) has superb bite detection and bends nicely when you get a fish on. It's also a really light rod to handle. |

Terry Carroll CT1002, a few years old now but great rod to handle. Now only two rings short and hope to complete its renovation this weekend...
Would love to get hold of another to have a matching pair! |

My first beachcaster when I started up in the late 80's was a F/S Daiwa Moonraker Fast Tip which I absoloutely loved, this I regrettably sold after a few years of use when I decided to change over to a multiplier set up.
I then purchased a standard Meta-Lite which was an awesome rod paired up with an ABU 6500c Ultracast. The Meta-Lite was a very good rod, but I always felt that it had a limited casting distance due to it being only 11ft 8''.
I soon parted with the Meta-Lite set up & replaced it with an ABU Ambassadeur Elite 12ft beachcaster (13ft with butt extension fitted) paired up with a Daiwa 7HT. This is by far the best rod I have used. Its one very powerful rod which I can easily bang out over 100yds+ on a good day. It also stays still in high winds, which is good for bite detection, so I'm happy
I would like to buy another, but I have yet to see one on ebay! |
