Got two of these for 50p each, just wondering how I would go about securing it to the line.
There are two holes in the tail which look like they could be used but I doubt any line of greater strength than 30lb would manage to fit. There's also one small hole in the front which is even smaller.
I can pull the hook out and it has a rather large eye at the end, would I put a knot through the eye then feed the hook back into the eel? One of my concerns with this method is, that if I can pull it out, wouldn't a fish be able to?
(For some reason the photo came out upside down)
Thanks for your time. |

I asked the same question on here a while ago and got the answer.
Pull the hook right out by pulling it towards the tail, then thread your line through the small hole in the "nose" until it emerges through the hole you removed the hook through. You probably won't be using leader for spinning one of these, so ordinary main line will fit through the nose hole
Tie the end of the line through the eye of the hook and pull it from the nose end so that the hook goes back into place. |

Went out today, casted out around 10 times with the eel, told myself it would be my last cast. I decided to try spinning near a small cove and ended up getting snagged by a huge cluster of rock
Tried Mackerel feathers to see if any were still around but no luck today.
Then switched to a 2 hook flapper with Mackerel. First few casts crabs were destroying the bait, eventually I get a bite. Picked up the rod and began to reel, felt rather unusual not like any other bites I previously had. Anyway, in the end it was actually a decent sized dogfish which gave a decent fight.
As much as I hate them, it saved me from blanking for the third time in a row
Also, a seal was shouting at me. |
