I've fished Marsden beach a couple of times bit with limited success. The best places to fish are just to the right of the rock (from the rocks) or in the middle of the beach if you look towards the cliffs you'll see a V shape in the rocks. Fish directly in front of that. Best times to fish are 2 down & 2 up. Best bait is probably crab as this beach isn't a lug beach although if you put most baits on a fish's nose they'll eat it if hungry (I love using lug wherever I go). Fishing South of the Tyne has been very poor all spring and summer (I live in whitburn - 2 miles from marsden). I mostly fish North of the Tyne from cullercoats up to Craster. There are nice reddies all year round and some really good spots. Do you live local? Not sure how experienced you are or hwo knowledgeable about our coast but if you want to be shown some prime spots just let me know and I could either direct you or you could join me and my mates for a session. Good luck if you're still going to Marsden and let us know how you get on.
