Hi manic,as you say always gets good write ups
Never fished there myself but I remember an article by steve I`anson, who fished off the top, requiring a large reel, lots of line, plus good control of a drop net.He also fastened a sponge to his rod(keeping it wet)to avoid line damage caused by dry friction.
Sorry can`t be of any more help Cheers Darren |

The cliffs there are 300ft high, theres 2 ways to get there, walking from reighton sands which takes aroud 40 mins cos part of it is boulders as big as cars or via the ladders, but thats a bit dodgy, and ive heard a few tales of anglers falling off them. Im gonna walk. |

FOR ANGLERS USING BEMPTON CLIFFS RSPB NATURE RESERVE
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds owns its nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs. It is one of the largest breeding seabird colonies in the UK and is designated a site of international importance hence its status of Special Protection Area (SPA), and indeed a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Therefore the reserve is protected by UK and European law at all times. The area covered by this Code stretches 3.5 miles from grid reference TA185746 (Hoddy Cows) to TA222727 (Close Nooks).
In recent years the cliffs have become very popular with sea anglers which has lead to non-compliance of RSPB and local fishing club guidelines. This code of conduct sets out agreed rules and guidelines, in order to maintain a best practice procedure on the cliff top. We would be grateful if all fishermen comply with this code of conduct:
FISHING PERMITTED BETWEEN OCTOBER 1ST AND FEBRUARY 28TH ONLY
NO FISHING ALLOWED FROM RSPB VIEWPOINTS AND AREAS OF POST & RAIL FENCING DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS
TACKLE TO COMPRISE; MINIMUM 30lb BS MAINLINE; TERMINAL TACKLE TO INCORPORATE A ROTTEN BOTTOM AND A MINIMUM 50lb BS LEADER TO BE USED WITH ANY MEANS OF CASTING
ALL FISHING TACKLE AND LITTER TO BE REMOVED FROM SITE, EVEN IF IT IS NOT YOURS
AVOID DAMAGING CLIFF TOP VEGETATION AND OTHER RSPB PROPERTY SUCH AS FENCES, GATES, STILES, SEATS AND SIGNS
BE CONSIDERATE TO THE PUBLIC USING THE CLIFF TOP
COLONIAL NESTING AND ROOSTING SEA BIRDS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL TIMES
PAY & DISPLAY IN CAR PARK IF APPLICABLE
STRICTLY NO VEHICLES ON THE CLIFF TOP
FISHERMEN TO REPORT ANY POACHING/ILLEGAL OR UNAUTHORISED ACTIVITIES
TO THE RSPB (Tel. 01262 851533/851179)
ENSURE YOUR OWN SAFETY AND THAT OF OTHERS AT ALL TIMES
THE SEA CLIFFS AT BEMPTON ARE DANGEROUS. FISHERMEN CLIMBING OVER THE CURRENT FENCE-LINE TO FISH FROM THE SEA-WARD SIDE, OR CLIFF BOTTOM, DO SO ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK
THE RSPB HAS THE FULL SUPPORT OF HUMBERSIDE POLICE. THEREFORE, ANYONE NOT COMPLYING WITH ANY OF THE GUIDELINES ABOVE MAY BE INVESTIGATED AT ANY TIME |
