Never lasted long did it?
Hopefully the arseholes after seeing what a sh.t hole they left, might just take there rubbish home with them next time.
It was someone who fished the narrows Saturday night, about 150 yards left to where the boat drops you off. |

It's not just Orford thats a complete tip - you just need to look at St Osyth, Jaywick and Point Clear to name a few and it's all the same.
Now the summer is over (whatever that was) it would be a much better time to clean as all the thronging masses of tourists wont be there, so you can put most of the litter down to anglers and yachties.
I lose count of the bags of rubbish I take back off St Osyth when I fish there and to be honest, I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking pants to it - it isn't my problem anymore because it will never stop. There is always a bunch of nob heads that don't think of anything or anyone else other than there own selves. That's life I'm afraid.
If you look over the railings at Walton Pier there is masses of old bait wrappers and fishing line lying on the floor - and that's a privately owned pier that charges people to fish on.
Give 'em a good kicking I say, and that goes for the la-de-da yachties as well. That'll stop them.
(Rant over - you can come out now) |

Who owns the pier? Maybe some could send them a polite email pointing this out |

Thats really disgusting. That is clearly 100% anglers mess, anybody can see that. This makes us ALL look bad and takes the pi$$ out of all of us who attended the clean up.
Surely Pete knows who he took over on Saturday. It cant be too hard to trace the to$$ers. They should at least be banned from going over on the ferry.
I actually feel ashamed to be part of this sport now. |

Don't be so hard on yourself Andy - you can't be responsible for people that do this.
What needs to be done (in my opinion) is to address the root cause and stop the messy anglers fishing on Orford (or anywhere else) in the first place. If the NT took a leaf out of the Southwold Pier Angers, and made people supply ID and a location where they fished, any mess and next time the get banned from the pier (or ferry in Petes case).
It would take a lot of work to put into practice and just the thought of issuing ID is deterrant enough for some people, but it wont stop the yachties throwing their shite overboard.
Unless the root cause of the problem is addressed, it will end up with decent anglers like yourself Andy, and Dunc, Edgey, Soleman and all the other "good guys" from the Beach Clean picking up the litter to try and save the sport. To be honest I think it is a losing battle, but would not discourage from doing the clean on the next one.
Alan Yates (bless him) said the sea fishing license could be use to enforce "good and tidy angling" by removing the license from idiots. The problem is that it can't be policed, and why should "good and tidy" anglers have to pay for a license in the first place.
The other way to look at it, is that, if the Beach Clean happens 4 times a year, then hy not leave your crap on the beach anyway as it will get tidied up by someone else anyway.
I'm not putting a downer on the Beach Clean, as I think you all deserve a medal and a life times supply of Adnams (I promise I wont be ill for the next one), but just think for a minute about prevention, rather than cure.
As the beach has now been adopted by the site, why not start lobbying the NT and the council to help outwith removing the root cause - after all, the beach is for everyone, including wildlife, not just anglers....
(You can come out now Mother....I've vented my spleen...the rant has passed.....). |

You have some valid points there Bread but I cant help feeling really pi$$ed off now and wondering if it was really worth the effort. I feel even more peed of for Dunc, Soleman etc. I knew things wouldnt change overnight but this really tars us all with the same brush in the eyes of others in my opinion.
I have really enjoyed starting this hobby this year but when something pees me off Thats usually the end of it.
I have to say that not being the fittest bloke in the world, that clean up and match took a lot out of me and cost me two days holiday from work so I feel personally offended by these to$$ers.
Maybe a license IS the answer as we "Good and tidy" anglers are paying the price already. At least it could be used as a requirement to board the ferry. |

I've followed you guys on the posts concerning Orford and know how much work you put into that.
I am utterly GOBSMACKED at the mess. If I had gone on that trip and put all that effort in Andy - I'd be incandescant too. S*it man. |

Like Bread has said Andy, dont beat yourself up over it.
I knew and I think most people understood that our efforts were not going to last very long and that we responsible anglers are not going to be detered from or waver from our intented mission. For me my heels are firmly dug in and I had already decided to obligate myself for the long haul and I know Dunc did to. Besides it means I have another oppurtunity to go back over their and be with real anglers and people that care about this sport.
I personally feel so much better in myself as an angler just knowing I'm nothing like these retards creating this mess.
Yes I'm annoyed but not surprised at all. I get great satisfaction in hoping that one day the retards that leave this mess have their Boll*x shrivell up and fall off hopefully before they can breed anymore DNA that inevitably will turn out just like them.
All we can do guys is keep chipping away at it and sooner or later the message will start hitting home, as I'm sure it already has in a small way.
As a great leader once said, we will fight them on the beaches etc! and so we will.
I think Dunc may have some news soon regarding the next date. |

Guys,
We can't change the world but we can at least do something to change our bit of it.
We'll go over again in December and do it again. And again, and again. Maybe, just maybe the idiots out there will get the message. Maybe they won't. BUT, we will have at least tried to make a difference.
I have a suggestion to put to you all:
Let's get the Beach clean going properly and organised properly. I know that I made some mistakes in the organisation of the last one and will refine things for the next. I know that Soleman will want to look at the way the fishing side is run also. We will be getting together to discuss what we need to do. Lets have some more numbers. All you newcomers to the site that missed the last one, it was a bloody good day out-hard but enjoyable. All you seasoned members that couldn't do it or who maybe expected us to fall flat on our a**es, stump up and get out there-you don't know what you're missing.
Lets do it for a year and see how much difference we make-one swallow does not a summer make. Then, armed with real evidence to back us up we can approach the NT and discuss the best route forward.
THIS IS NOT A SPRINT! It's a marathon and will require stamina and determination that we are not going to be beaten by the first hurdle.
Yes, I'm dissapointed that all the work we did is being undone but I am going back and I will do it again and I'll do it even if I have to do it alone.
The time for cleaning is now. The time for consideration of what to do next is later. We are not going to rush off half cocked and screw it up.
Whatever we do has to be for the long term. |
