Please post your Tactics / Tips on how to catch Bass in your local area here. Please remember in this part of the forum to click the reply button to post and Not the "New Post" button Also one main point to remember is that these new forums are intended to help totally new sea anglers to the sport so please post in great detail type of rods/reels used, explain about traces/rigs used, depth to fish and so on or anything else I have missed that you feel will help the novice sea angler.

Bass fishing in Morecambe , best places are Grosvenor, sunny slopes 9middle town or stone jetty best baits lug and crab.
Teal bay on the out skirts near Morecambe golf club again crab lug you also get good flounder try a nite tide to.
best mark is Heysham power station use artificial shrimp rigs on a 2oz lead using a rotten bottom (can be obtained from Morecambe angling centre) use the white one or on bigger tides you can float them through, also try red gills, when the fishing is good you will hit mullet, the mffa do pay a visit quite often by land and boat do not be temped to take under size fish.

Bass in Southsea:

Bass generally like to "play" in the breaking waves in this area, and particularly tend to bite 1 -2 hours before HT and 1-2 hours back.

They thrive on Slipper Limpet., these can be found attached to the shingle at the high tide marks, sometimes one upon another.

after a rough sea is best, the Bass come up to feed on the smashed limpet on the sea bed.

Casting out only 20/30 yards is good enough to get in range of the bass.

Place a few limpet on a 1/o or 2/0 hook bound on with a bit of elastic using either a pasternoster or 1 up 1 down rig.

If you cannot find the limpet , they can be bought locally in frozen packs, I have had success on both.
