I know it wasnt a hook, but my uncle was on the recieving end of a nasty one a while ago........
He was out fishing with a couple of friends on his boat, and was netting a fish for one of the other guys, when the guys weight became stuck in the net by one of the grip wires.
The guy thought he was supporting the weight of the fish so still had a fair bit of tension on the line, and then while my uncle was leaning over the gunnel lifting the fish over and into the boat, the weight came free of the net and under the tension of the rod, sprung up and smacked him straight in the face and he had a grip wire puncture his eyeball....... lucky he never lost an eye. |

No he's not blind , I think it went into the white of his eye and missed th lense completely from what he told me, it left him in a bit of a state, but he had it strapped up for a quite a while but by following what the doctors at the hospital told him he has made u full recovery, other than that he needs reading glasses. |

yeeoucch! much sympathy mate! did a similar thing with one of my plugs a couple of months back, got it stuck in me pocket (not a good start) ended up getting stressed with it as would not come out, so yanked it with a pair of pliers, only problem was my left hand was a tad close, so dragged 2 of the 3 barbs straight thru me index finger....had to go to emergency room in the end, as couldn't get snippers around the hook to cut...made a few people laugh tho!...didn't really hurt that much either, tis a tad tricky changing gear with a jointed plug thrashing about all over the place! |
