super glue and knots

i have been told to use a small drop of super glue on my knots after i have tide them will this help keep them in place or is it just someone
spinning me one

Not all CA glues deteriate in saltwater, but I can't see the sense in adding it to fishing knots. This is because most fishing knots are designed to pull tighter under load, which they cant do if you glue them.

i have only heard it is mainly used in fresh water fishing to add super glue to some knots think more of the hair rigs that carp anglers use,but i don't think it would be much good for sea tho.

Can't see the point. Have always found that a decent knot tied properly will not come undone as MJB says. One does occasionally see line parting with tackle but usually where the angler concerned does not know his knots or has got his rig jammed round a breakwater or summat.

40lb amnesia is a bit of a bugger to tie it keeps trying to untie itself LOL

what about cutting the line after you have tied the knot but leave an inch so if it slips there is a little left

or with the little left melting it with a lighter (for over 18s only)

could put some rig tubeing over the knot.

1. should protect the knot.
2. should make it less easy for it to slip undone.
