Grab head thread in hook, pierce body with hook a couple of times while threading through to release juices...

Why not try Lug instead. I have caught more on lug than i have Rag and they don't have an attitude and if presented on the hook properly they give just as good a scent trail. Try lug tipped with white rag.

the only problem with hooking the body in several places oggy is that they have the ability to lose part of their tails, so they have a tendency to just let that bit fall off.

Does anybody else find....
That if you try to hook a ragworm through an inch of its body so that it can wriggle away to its hearts content when in the water and attract a nice bass or cod, that the worm just falls in half in your hands????
Or is it just me

Thats is a big problem with the ragworm as it is due to the fact that they have segmented bodies so as a natural defence they can discard a certain proportion of their bodies to get away from an attacker. Quite a few animals in nature have this most basic of defensive modes.

big grin
Hi all, I remeber digging a 2ft King rag once. My Dad the wuss cut it's head off. Hee soon regretted doing this when next time he went to bait up another by putting the head back into the remaining rag he came back out with this monster head and nippers embeded into his thumb. Did he have a few choice words to say as it hurt like hell and drew plenty of blood.

Needless to say I laughed my head off. (i you'll parden the punn).

He's a story for you - This guy I know swears he witnessed a Seagull being sucked under by a monster King Ragworm when digging bait. The same guy recalled a funny story about a Lobster. Apparently he'd caught this enormous Lobster and dropped it into a big pan of boiling water and left the kitchen to answer the phone. On returning to the kitchen a couple of minutes later he was astonished to find the Lobster's claw firmly on the gas knob and the gas turned-off.
