Hi mate,
Im not from the area but i fish Newquay now and again, I was down there last weekend on my stag party and during the day i had a go at spinning for the bass. The locals seem to think that the bass have just started to come on to the spinners but i had no luck. The only thing that i saw caught were a couple of mackeral.
Try speaking to a guy registered on this site called bass bandit, i think he is from the area you are after info on.

Tight lines mate

 Hi Mate, try Rame Head, park at the car park at the top of the hill (there is a NRLI building there)and as you look across to the top of the head land there is a building on it, go over the sty at the end of the car park and walk down the left side of the headland, this will take you down to a rock ledge that you fish at either low or high tide, go to the right of it and fish off the end, its heavy Kelp in about 40ft water but on the right there is a sand bar running from the rocks out to about 100yds, well worth a go used to fish it when I lived in Liskeard, you will get Makerel, doggies conger Gar fish and occasional bass, it sounds far but its about 500yds from the car park. Let me know how you get on if you decide to fish it,, Good Luck Mate

Hi, Port Gaverne'd good for the new angler - you can try float, bottom or spinning all reaping various rewards.
