Tie an overhand (granny knot) in the leader onto the main line. Then a half blood knot in the main line. Remember to lubricate the line using saliva and pull the knots up slowly.
but if you are using a tapered leader, use a full blood knot.
If you go the the East Coast Furum, there is a sticky at the top on everything you need to know about leaders. |

Actually, thinking about it, it could be interpreted in the slightly wrong way.
Better change it |

I am using the Allbright knot cos it's simple to do and is very neat (IMO) - connecting 50lb shockleader to 18lb main line. I also soften the cut end of the SL with a small soldering iron to make it even more neat but you have to be very careful or you will weaken the knot. |

What kind of leader knot do you use Mr. Concrete?
Would it be a hangmans knot? |

Do you use a 50lb shock or is that a leading question? |

I'm using 80lb now. As I use leads to 7oz it gives me a 10lb safety margin. Ok, its like tying steel hawser but what the hell!
I'm sure everybody knows by now but it's worth repeating:
Shockleader should be 10lbs per oz of lead so:
5oz lead, 50lb leader. |

No. I've had a good day. Shoveling concrete into moulds whilst enjoying the view of the farm, reservoir, and Little Clacton bypass. Also drinking cups of tea, chatting and throwing toys for Baron the guard dog. Mind you, my landlord's not too chuffed, his German Shepherd puppy chewed a hole in the grass box of his two grand ride on mower. We didn't laugh............................................................................Much.  |
