Use any rig but use a rotton bottom that is to say use a line to your weight weaker than your mainline therfore if you get caught on the rocks you only loos your weight and not you full tackle. The other thing is to use old sparkplugs, thatway it wont cost you a fortune in old weights. Hope this helps.

Wow thats a tough one! It all depends on what kind of money you want to lay out. If your new to beachcasting then I would suggest a secondhand Abu mag elite as I find that you can contol the overuns much better., but everyone has their own preference. Speak to local lads and to your tackle dealer, also the lads on here a a great bunch and Im sure they will give you the benifit of their experience. Hope this helps. Tight lines. keith

rabbi is right about a secondhand reel , myself id start with a cheap but half decent reel like shakspeare neptune or a fladden muilty and if you get on with it then build up to a abu or daiwa.

Thats what this forum is all about (helping others as well as recieving help). They are a good bunch on here so any questions you have don't be afraid to ask. It's called learning. There is always someone who will replyOk now and then you will get good friendly banter. Tight lines, keith

another idea
there are plenty of stones around with holes in you could use one of those as a weight so you dont keep losing expensive lead weights
whatever you do good luck
