Oi, don't you start on me, I might come over Southampton soon and show you how to fish but not if I get upset. Pompey for the cup, Saints for the bin.

if you can get to a pier just dangle the line over about 10ft off the bottom and lift your rod up and down couldn't be simpler. bloody boring mackerel fishing IMO but there you go

Depends on the method you use. Ultra light spinning gear, a coarse floatfishing set-up or a flyrod and Mackerel are brilliant fun. Pound for pound there isn't much swimming off the UK coast that fights as hard or fast as a Mackerel. You just have to give them a chance. If you want boring try casting a bait out with a beachcaster, sitting on your arse for 15minutes then winding in a pout/rockling/undersize bass etc that you didn't even realise was there (IMO of course, but there you go).

I prefer that boring bit by sitting on my arse and waiting 15mins to bring in a pout big grin or like me you could spin for mackerel while waiting in between casted thats if you got space on the shore to do it big grin big grin .
