I have booked dominator, a very nice boat for wednesday the 11th.

I still have a couple of places and a couple to confirm.

the cost is £50 all you need is a sandwich boat rods and bait are on board although you would probably like to use your own reel and bet a few quid on biggest fish etc.

I think thornbacks are about. big grin

it leaves from Burnham at 8am ish

If interested send me a PM

I'd love to make it John but as you know we are of to Orford on the 13th, my current fishing pass is only valid for that day i'm afraid. Besides I'm not sure I'll have enough bait and hooks for everyone..lol big grin big grin

P.S I peed my pants reading your report about the match. big grin big grin big grin

Set off from Burnham at 8am, perfect day it was like a mill pond and the sun was out. We headed over to the borroughs.

four of us fished and the skipper. The tide was bit low amd not much run and using squid and herring we caught about 15 thornback most small but the largest was 12lbs 4oz. In addition to skate we had doggies and a couple of small smooth hounds with only 1 whiting. Herring was the better bait.

I am looking forward to my skate supper

A fantastic day will try and post photos later

Wow, sounds like you had a whale of a time. I only wish I could have attended but £50 is a lot of money for me (2/3 of my weekly disposable income)

It may seem a lot, but given that you usually catch fish spend the best part of the day fishing and you normally have to spend on bait etc it is not too bad. Also you are on a boat that probably coat about £100K.

Rocket, I'm no expert on fishing, but if you want to encourage people to take up the sport this ain't the way to go about it. I think the comment was uncalled for but excellent catch to you 'itgotaway' - they certainly didn't!!!
