|
|
Tried fishing Roker pier on Friday afternoon 4 up and 2 down. Using squid, rag, lug, muscle and mackrel. Caught around 4 whities (3 at a good size) and a couple of coalies. Met medlar there who was having one of those days. Even tough we were using pretty much the same bait, I was getting a bite virtually every cast and he was getting very few bites but was catching every rock in the north sea (although he did start to catch a couple as I was nearing the end of my fishing trip and knowing my luck caught the cod I was looking for) Harmless gesting, hope you caught more over the weekend if you're watching medlar. It was nice to meet someone from the site as there seems to be very few of us in the North East. It made the day's fishing a whole lot better swapping ideas, hot spots and quite often (mostly by me) groans about the wind. We also decided to arrange a couple of fishing outings, trying different spots etc. Well I have persuaded Medlar to take me elsewhere as me being a bit of a novice I have rarely ventured far.
Happy fishing all.

I have never tried rocker. When is the best time to fish? If anyone has a pic of the place and don't mind me using it for my website then please email it.
Thanks,

Hi Medlar
No problem about Friday. Tried Marsden beach but the wind changed direction and was sweeping my line back in almost as soon as I cast out. Tried the rat house for around 3 hours as the yacht club broke down the wind. Caught about 6-7 whities, a few biggies. Will ring you about Saturday.
Hi nefishing
The best time to fish Roker is 3 up and 3 down if you want whities. You will usually get into double figures doing this. Top catch the cod around 2 before low and 2 after, although there are very few cod being caught there at the moment. Depends if you want a busy night or a slow one with big anticipation. No pictures of the place but if you look at the right hand side of the pier, I usually fish the opposite side of the first steps although the top of the pier brings up the most fish if you can get there as it is sometimes a little crowded. Don't have any pictures but I hope this helps.

nefishing,am i right in thinking you have a site called ne-fishing.co.uk,if so then i have just joined and also passed the adress onto mog to have a look.fishing at roker can be tempramental at times. As mog said about Roker, fish the end of the pier and get loads of whiteys but no codling, fish thye barrier (just before the 1st steps, opposite side) you have a better chance of codling there some upto 5lb but be prepared for lots of snagging
MOG,did you try that website? still on for saturday at lynmouth, drudidge bay or even craster( depending on weather) make sure you have plenty gear as it can be snaggy as i was at roker last week you can lose a lot of gear but hopefully it will be worth it.
Anyone fancy joining us for lynmouth beach on saturday leave your name and contact number on here.
GOOD FISHING AND BE SAFE LADS,with the winds we have been having its better to be safe than sorry |
